My own foods for high blood pressure_onion juice & silkworm powder

I have my own Foods for high blood pressure.

The standard for high blood pressure is typically defined by blood pressure readings that exceed certain values. Here are the The standard as below.

The blood pressure categories:

  1. Normal: Systolic blood pressure less than 120 mm Hg and diastolic blood pressure less than 80 mm Hg.
  2. Elevated: Systolic blood pressure between 120-129 mm Hg and diastolic blood pressure less than 80 mm Hg.
  3. Hypertension Stage 1: Systolic blood pressure between 130-139 mm Hg or diastolic blood pressure between 80-89 mm Hg.
  4. Hypertension Stage 2(my case): Systolic blood pressure of 140 mm Hg or higher, or diastolic blood pressure of 90 mm Hg or higher.
  5. Hypertensive Crisis: Systolic blood pressure higher than 180 mm Hg and/or diastolic blood pressure higher than 120 mm Hg. This is a medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

      * They are established by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Heart Association (AHA).

My parents had high blood pressure, and I also have high blood pressure. Perhaps I think it inherited from them. I have a systolic blood pressure between 140-160 mm Hg and a diastolic blood pressure between 90-100 mm Hg. Thus I am Hypertension Stage 2.

So when I was in my 40s, I started looking into Korean traditional remedies that were said to be good for high blood pressure. As a result of trying many things, I found the good foods for my high blood pressure. The foods are onion juice & silkworm powder.

For onion juice, I do not buy ready-made products sold in the market. One day, I bought ready-made onion juice and tried it, but it had no effect on managing my blood pressure. After that,  I make it myself. I mix onions and jujubes together and squeeze the juice. The reason why I add jujubes is that onion juice taste is not good to drink.  I drink the onion juice twice a day after mealAnd in the case of silkworm powder, it is often said that it contains pesticides, so I found a reliable place to buy it. And I keep eating it once a day

Since taking their foods, my systolic blood pressure is below 140 Hg and my diastolic blood pressure is below 90 mmHg without medicine. I think that onion juice has potential benefits in managing high blood pressure due to its content of certain bioactive compounds(such as quercetin, sulfur, quercetin and other flavonoids)  may have vasodilating and anti-inflammatory effects.

Onion Juice

Making Onion Juice with Jujubes:

  • 2 medium-sized onions
  • 10-12 jujubes (also known as red dates or Chinese dates)
  • Water

  1. Preparation:
    • Peel and chop the onions into small pieces.
    • Remove the pits from the jujubes and chop them if they are large.
  2. Boiling:
    • In a pot, add the chopped onions and jujubes.
    • Add enough water to cover the ingredients.
  3. Boil:
    • Place the pot on the stove over medium heat.
    • Bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Simmer:
    • Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer.
    • Allow it to simmer for about 20-30 minutes, or until the ingredients are soft and well-cooked.
  5. Straining:
    • After simmering, remove the pot from the heat.
    • Let the mixture cool down slightly.
  6. Straining:
    • Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to separate the juice from the solids (onions and jujubes).
  7. Extracting Juice:
    • You can press the solids with the back of a spoon or spatula to extract any remaining juice.
  8. Storing:
    • Transfer the extracted juice to a clean container. You can refrigerate it for a short period, but keep in mind that homemade juices may not have a long shelf life due to lack of preservatives.

Silkworm powder

Some compounds in onions and  silkworm powder show promise for potential blood pressure benefits. I heard the potential effectiveness of silkworms for high blood pressure is attributed to an enzyme called serrapeptase, which is extracted from the digestive system of silkworms. Serrapeptase is known for its anti-inflammatory and fibrinolytic properties, meaning it can help break down fibrin, a protein involved in blood clotting, and reduce inflammation.

Here’s silkworm extract efficacies:

  1. Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Chronic inflammation can contribute to damage in blood vessels and impair blood flow, which can in turn contribute to high blood pressure. Serrapeptase’s anti-inflammatory properties might help alleviate some of this damage and promote healthier blood vessel function.
  2. Fibrinolytic Activity: Fibrin is involved in the formation of blood clots. In conditions where blood vessels are compromised due to inflammation or other factors, excessive fibrin formation can lead to further complications, including high blood pressure. Serrapeptase’s ability to break down fibrin might help prevent excessive clot formation.
  3. Improved Blood Flow: By reducing inflammation and fibrin accumulation, serrapeptase might help improve blood flow through arteries and veins. Improved blood flow can contribute to better blood pressure control.

Silkworm powder also should be used primarily as supplements. Before considering any alternative or complementary treatments, including silkworm extract, for high blood pressure, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional.

In conclusion

It’s always wise to rely on well-established dietary and lifestyle changes, as well as medical treatments prescribed by healthcare professionals, to manage blood pressure effectively. They should be used primarily as supplements. And Consulting with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian is recommended to tailor dietary choices to your specific health needs and conditions.

High blood pressure is a serious medical condition that requires careful management under the guidance of a qualified medical provider. Before incorporating onion juice or any other alternative remedy into your routine for managing high blood pressure, it’s recommended to consult with a healthcare professional.

In my case, alternative therapies(foods for my high blood pressure) have fortunately helped me to manage my high blood pressure, but I also receive regular medical care from a doctor at a hospital. We hope you find a high blood pressure management supplement that works for you too.
